World Trade Centers

There are a number of  World Trade Centers Association located around the world. These are members of the world wide World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) which was established in New Orleans, U.S.A. in 1968.

The purpose of the WTCA Association, which consists of trade centers and trade-related groups, is to:

  • 1. Encourage the expansion of world trade.
     
  • 2. Promote international business relationships and understanding among nations.
     
  • 3. Foster the increased participation in world trade by nations.
     
  • 4. Create and encourage mutual assistance and co-operation among members.
     
  • 5. Promote and further the concept of the world trade center.

The World Trade Center Association and 'WTC' trade service organizations are located in more than 90 countries and supported by 15,000 WTCA professionals that deliver integrated, reciprocal resources to solve your business needs.

The World Trade Centers Association stimulates trade and investment opportunities, economic development, and international businesses looking to connect globally for businesses and corporations, ranging from small to large, looking to expand their international reach and growth.

The World Trade Centers Association serves as an 'international ecosystem' of global connections and integrated trade services.

Common characteristics
WTC Association Trade centers around the World, although varying somewhat, have certain common characteristics:

  • 1. Office accommodations for manufacturers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, government trade promotion services, legal services, insurance brokers and other segments of the international business community.
     
  • 2. Up-to-date information and education services to handle trade in inquiries by tenants and visitors and to help facilitate international business.
     
  • 3. Club facilities where people in international business may dine and conduct business in comfortable surroundings.
     
  • 4. Exhibition facilities for manufacturers and other to show their goods and transact sales.
     
  • 5. Consumer services, including restaurants, personal services, specialty shops, etc.

Membership

There are three types of membership in WTCA

  • 1. Regular for organizations substantially involved in the development or operation of a world trade center.
     
  • 2. Associate for world trade center clubs, libraries, exhibition facilities and other organizations with trade center-related activities but not a centralized accommodation of activities devoted to world trade.
     
  • 3. Affiliate for chambers of commerce and similar organizations representing a group of businessperson interested in foreign trade expansion in co-operation with world trade center.
     

Membership Advantages

The following are the benefits offered by WTCA membership:

  • 1. Access to the trade information services of all other members.
     
  • 2. Reciprocal club membership.
     
  • 3. Free subscriptions to World Traders, the official quarterly magazine of the WTCA Members are supplied with other publications etc.
     
  • 4. Trade Center Profiles (yearly). Membership Directories (yearly).
     
  • 5. WTCA News (monthly), Read the latest WTC world wide trade news Proceedings of the General Assemblies (yearly), as well as special studies and reports of WTCA committees.
     
  • 6. Annual meetings of the entire membership, hosted by a member organization, where delegates exchange information, hear speakers of international stature and work on Association programs and objectives.
